DB Cargo AG transports over 50 million tonnes of steel annually, a third of which is cross-border. DB Cargo AG is therefore the largest supplier of steelworks, in front of HGV transport and inland shipping.
With our coil transport, we are a significant supplier to the automotive industry. We play a major role for large steel companies by means of our interplant transport.
Our wagon fleet allows us to transport coils expertly, as well as profiles, pipes, cast parts or even oversized metal sheets. The international transport of products which exceed the loading gauge is a challenge which DB Cargo AG is happy to accept.
Organisation of the entire logistics chain
Whether large transport volume or single wagon: With its own train network and intermodal logistics and services, DB Cargo AG organises the entire logistics chain from dispatch to the recipient – also via transhipment to rail ports by lorry pre- or post-carriage.
DB Cargo AG can plan traffic especially efficiently with direct assignment of resources. Even in the short term, adjustments to customer requirements and associated transport flows can therefore be made.
With great cost-effectiveness with scheduled turnaround times, you can count on timely delivery and appropriate timeframes for loading and unloading. "Paperless haulage" enables you to execute your transport digitally in national traffic.
Coal and steel logistics centre in Hagen
DB Cargo AG operates its "Coal and steel logistics centre" (LZM) for storage, transhipment, picking and distribution in the main sales region of the coal and steel industry. With an area of 8500 m², the LZM also offers customers without a siding storage capacities of up to 60,000 tonnes. Timely supply is therefore possible with requirement-orientated offsetting in case of fluctuations in demand. The LZM is not only in the focal point of European traffic flows on the rails, but is also ideally connected via the A1, A45 and A46 motorways.
Accepting responsibility for works traffic
On request, we can ensure smooth operations to the works premises by taking care of works traffic. Due to the seamless inclusion of the available local resources, the reliability of supply in inter-works transport is therefore further improved as the so-called “extended roll train".
