DB Cargo has upgraded the link2rail customer portal to a new, powerful platform that provides an improved user experience.

DB Cargo sets standards with the switch to a modern platform

DB Cargo has reached a significant milestone on the way to a centralized customer portal. Within a year, the link2rail customer portal was converted to a modern solution with access via the Salesforce Experience Cloud. This changeover offers customers numerous benefits, including a significant improvement in user-friendliness and performance. 

The new portal is an important step towards a central DB Cargo customer portal that will unite all portals in the business unit by the end of 2025.

Advantages for customers

The changeover brings numerous advantages for customers:

  • Modernized user interface: A user-friendly interface that enables a more intuitive use of the portal.
  • Significantly improved performance: faster loading times and an overall smoother user experience.
  • Intuitive and efficient use: Clear navigation that gives customers quick access to all the information they need.
  • Extended functionalities: In addition to the familiar order and wagon view, the new portal now also offers a train view in the same system, making it easier for customers to obtain information.

In addition, all functionalities of the portal will also be available as an API in the course of the year to enable seamless integration into customers' in-house systems.

The way to the new DB Cargo customer portal

"The switch to the new platform enables us to take a significant step towards a more efficient and user-friendly solution for our customers. The transition went smoothly and all systems were stable immediately after the migration," explains Dr. Martin Prager, Head of Digital Customer Interface at DB Cargo.

As part of the extensive communication campaign, around 40 customer events were held to actively support customers during the migration to the new portal and to explain the benefits of the new solution to them.

With the successful switch to a modern and powerful platform, DB Cargo is taking an important step towards a centralized, user-friendly customer portal. The new system offers an improved user experience and lays the foundation for an efficient, future-proof logistics solution that meets the requirements of a dynamic industry.
