Article: DB Cargo UK extends its partnership with Day Group Ltd by five years
DB Cargo UK and Day Group Ltd are continuing their long-standing collaboration: a new five-year contract secures the partnership until 2031 and underscores the importance of efficient rail logistics for the construction and recycling sectors in the United Kingdom.
The core of the agreement remains the transport of aggregates from the coastal sites of Cliffe Brett Marine in Kent and Newhaven Marine in East Sussex to several Day Group sites in southern England and the Greater London area. These include Tolworth, Crawley, Purley and Stewart’s Lane, amongst others.
In addition, DB Cargo UK continues to handle the removal of construction waste from the Stewart’s Lane site to the terminals in Tinsley (South Yorkshire) and Stewartby (Bedfordshire). At both sites, the company is also responsible for handling and unloading operations, thereby expanding its role beyond mere transport.
Roger Neary, Chief Commercial Officer at DB Cargo UK, highlights the integrated approach in particular:
“We are delighted to extend our partnership with Day Group and to support not only their transport needs but also their terminal operations. DB Cargo UK is much more than just a rail freight operator – we offer businesses integrated solutions for their entire rail logistics.”
This contract extension will consolidate our long-term partnership in a key sector of the construction and circular economy. At the same time, the project demonstrates how rail freight transport can contribute to the efficient supply of construction sites and the sustainable management of material and waste flows.
