DB Cargo at the 2019 PPI Transport Symposium
Held every two years, the symposium of the International Forest Products Transport Association (IFPTA) for the pulp and paper industry will take place from 16-18 September 2019 in Tarragona, Spain.
Part conference and part exhibition, the PPI Transport Symposium is considered to be the longest running series of events on global pulp and paper logistics. This will be the 23rd such meeting. The symposium is put together by consignors and service providers organised in IFPTA, a non-profit organisation that dates back to 1974. This time, the port of Tarragona will be playing host to the event, a city some 100 km from Barcelona that bears the distinction of being one of Europe's largest pulp transshipment sites.
Over 550 strategic decision-makers and prominent industry specialists have registered, coming predominantly from Europe and the Americas. They include representatives from consignors as well as logistics providers like DB Cargo. The German freight operating company is inviting attendees to visit its information booth (no. 704) to join the conversation on rail logistics, a topic of major importance for the future. DB Cargo is a key partner to the pulp and paper industry, transporting 6.8 million tonnes of cellulose and paper and 0.7 million tonnes of timber on an annual basis. Networking sessions to keep contacts fresh are one of the mainstays of the event, as are discussions about new concepts and ideas, the future development of the market and the industry's job requirements. What's more, there are numerous presentations sharing information on current market trends and refreshing participants' expertise on the pulp and paper supply chain.
