Article: DB Cargo Polska - On the course of growth in the Eastern Corridors
DB Cargo Polska - From coal transport to innovative logistics provider
DB Cargo Polska Group was created in 2009 through the acquisition and merger of several medium-sized railway companies that originally specialised in coal transport. Today, DB Cargo Polska is one of the largest transport providers in rail freight transport in Poland - and an important growth driver in DB Cargo's European network.
With around 2,800 employees in five companies - DB Cargo Polska S.A., Infra SILESIA S.A., DB Cargo Spedkol, DB Port Szczecin and Transfracht Polska - we offer a broad portfolio that goes far beyond traditional bulk goods transport.
Diverse transport solutions for numerous industries
Whether solid and liquid fuels, chemical products (including dangerous goods), steel, building materials, industrial and consumer goods or complete automotive and container transport: DB Cargo Polska is a rail provider that serves a wide range of industries. Special and high-capacity transport is also part of the offering.
In addition to rail traction, DB Cargo Polska operates sidings, loading and unloading points and maintenance centres for infrastructure and rail vehicles. With direct access to seaports and transhipment terminals, export, import and transit are organised from a single source.
Investment in modern infrastructure
European rail freight transport made innovative: DB Cargo Polska is continuously investing in future-oriented facilities, for example:
- The state-of-the-art maintenance and production plant in Rybnik, which employs around 300 people and specialises in the maintenance, refurbishment and even manufacture of rail vehicles.
- The newly opened railport in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, a multimodal facility that can handle steel coils weighing up to 42 tonnes and other intermodal loads in a strong industrial centre.

The ultra-modern maintenance and production plant in Rybnik: state-of-the-art locomotives and rail vehicles are maintained and manufactured here.
Strategic location Sławków - bridge between Europe and Asia
The Sławków site at the westernmost point of the European broad-gauge line is a particular advantage. This is where the standard gauge and broad gauge tracks meet - a unique location that makes DB Cargo Polska a central hub in the flow of goods between Europe and Asia.
In addition to the handling and storage of goods, the terminal's services also include complete customs and transport documentation. Three regular trains - Silesia, Moravia and Mazovia - run several times a week between Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland, linking DB Cargo Polska closely to the European network.
