Article: Record start in Duisburg: hinterland logistics as the key to modern supply chains
With around 120 participants, the "Port meets mainland" series of events in Duisburg got off to a record start in the new year. The nationwide cooperation series is initiated by JadeWeserPort Wilhelmshaven (JWP) and realised together with partners. These include Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven, JadeWeserPort-Marketing GmbH & Co. KG, EUROGATE Group, NORDFROST, Hapag-Lloyd AG and TFG Transfracht.
Since 2017, TFG Transfracht has been a permanent partner of the event series, which takes place at five to seven locations in Germany and Austria every year. The aim is to facilitate a direct exchange between the port, operators, logistics providers and industry along the entire transport chain.
The Duisburg event focussed on the strategic role of JadeWeserPort Wilhelmshaven in the international logistics network. As Germany's only deep sea port, it offers reliable conditions for growing container traffic. The Ruhr region is an efficient destination with a high industrial density and a well-developed intermodal infrastructure.
The discussion made it clear that stable and efficient seaport hinterland services are a key success factor in modern supply chains. Plannability, frequency and network quality are increasingly determining competitiveness and resilience.
TFG Transfracht ensures a high-frequency rail connection between the JadeWeserPort and the most important economic regions in the DACH region with around 150 weekly departures in its closely synchronised AlbatrosExpress network in CT. Regular connections - including via Dortmund to Duisburg - transport containers to and from the hinterland in an efficient and climate-friendly manner. This makes TFG one of the leading providers of containerised rail transport in Wilhelmshaven. In addition to the technical impulses, the event emphasised the value of partnership-based cooperation within the network. Direct dialogue between all parties involved remains a decisive factor for efficient, resilient and sustainable logistics structures.DB Cargo is consistently supporting this development together with its network partners - with a clear focus on efficient rail hinterland transport as the backbone of modern supply chains.
