Article: DB Cargo at transport logistic 2025: Working together for strong logistics solutions

Sustainable. International. Intermodal - focussing on industry-specific solutions

From 2 to 5 June 2025, the international logistics industry will meet at the transport logistic trade fair in Munich - and the DB Cargo subsidiaries DB Cargo Eurasia, TFG Transfracht and DB Cargo Full Load Solutions will be there. They will be showcasing innovative, industry-specific and climate-friendly solutions for the freight transport of the future at various locations. Whether rail transport between Europe and Asia, seaport hinterland transport or customised logistics chains in combined transport - the three companies will be demonstrating what sustainable logistics looks like in practice.

Focus on international rail corridors - DB Cargo Eurasia and TFG Transfracht at the GATEWAY HAMBURG stand (Hall B3, Stand 209/310)

The GATEWAY HAMBURG joint stand will focus on cross-border transport and sustainable transport concepts. DB Cargo Eurasia will be presenting its services along the Eurasian Corridor - with rail connections between Europe, China and Central Asia. The climate-friendly services under the Climate+ label, which make an important contribution to the decarbonisation of international supply chains, will also be presented.TFG Transfracht will also be showcasing its high-performance port-to-door solutions for seaport-hinterland transport at the joint GATEWAY HAMBURG stand. With AlbatrosExpress, the operator offers the densest network in Europe and complements its range with smart services such as depot logistics, customs clearance, dangerous goods transport and digital solutions such as box2rail, driver app and API. Sustainability is also a top priority here: TFGeco solutions enable transport with a reduced CO₂ footprint.

Flexible full loads and industry-specific logistics - DB Cargo FLS at the IBS stand (Hall B6, Stand 300)

DB Cargo FLS will be represented at the joint stand of Internationaler Bahnspedition (IBS) - as a specialist for intermodal door-to-door solutions for full loads. The company combines the advantages of rail with the flexibility of trucks and is close to its customers with over 40 locations throughout Europe. Whether consumer goods, pulp & paper, military logistics, railway construction, timber, waste or special transport: FLS offers tailor-made concepts across all sectors, including multimodal logistics centres, heavy lift solutions and transport concepts for the Eurasian Corridor.

New developments in rail freight transport

The Tanoos 2.0 celebrates its trade fair premiere (outdoor area, stand FM 704/5)A highlight on the open-air site: the new Tanoos 2.0 bulk freight wagon. Developed for the safe transport of corrosive loads, the wagon will be in use from the third quarter of 2025 for fertiliser and salt transports for long-standing customer K+S. The project is the result of a successful collaboration with Wascosa and wagon manufacturer Greenbrier. The new bulk goods wagon is characterised by its reduced tare weight and increased loading volume. The wagon underframe is 40 cm shorter than previous models, reducing the weight of the wagon by an impressive 1.5 tonnes. At the same time, the loading volume has increased by 3 m³, meaning that the Tanoos 2.0 model can load a total of up to 68 tonnes with a volume of 78 m³. Only around two years after the start of the project, the innovative freight wagon is now going into series production - a strong sign of agile product development in rail freight transport.

Demonstrator of an innovative hydrogen container for rail transport (open-air stand FM 707/7)The new MEGC (Multiple Element Gas Container) enables the safe and climate-friendly transport of gaseous hydrogen by rail. The MEGC was developed by project partners DB Cargo BTT, Hexagon Purus, Endress+Hauser, Infraserv Höchst and Fraunhofer IML in a research project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection. With 500 bar operating pressure, increased loading capacity and intelligent sensor technology, the container sets new standards in green logistics.

Our programme suggestion:

Arlene Bühler, CIO/CDO of DB Cargo AG, will be taking part in the panel discussion ‘Raillog - of human and artificial intelligence - How can we make rail freight transport competitive in the logistics chain?’. This will take place on 4 June from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Hall B1/Stand 232. It will report on how digitalisation is transforming rail freight transport: From automatic coupling and digital braking of our trains to smart marshalling yards and AI-supported damage detection - right through to digital rail logistics for our customers with link2rail.
