Article: Rail keeps Europe's industry running

DB Cargo efficiently connects Europe's industry via a strong rail network and optimizes supply chains for reliable, pan-European logistics solutions.

European industry is closely interlinked - just one example: steel from one country is transported to a second country for further processing, which requires the raw materials to reach the steelworks. Batteries and electronic modules in turn come from a third country before final assembly takes place in a fourth country - and the finished car is sold in a fifth. DB Cargo connects these complex supply chains with an efficient, Europe-wide rail network.

DB Cargo - the logistics backbone for Europe's industry

DB Cargo is the leading provider of freight transport in Europe. Every year, we transport around 180 million tons of goods and operate in 17 countries. We connect over 4,200 different locations, including rail connections, factory gates, production sites, terminals, and ports – all from a single source. Thanks to our extended services, our trains bring goods from the port directly to the supermarket, connect steelworks with automotive plants and transport goods from chemical parks to finished goods warehouses. We provide efficient and reliable logistics on a daily basis throughout Europe

Industry needs integrated transportation solutions

Steel: Europe produces around 15 % of the world's steel. DB Cargo moves raw materials, semi-finished products and finished products reliably and efficiently - from Sweden to across the Alps.

Automotive industry: 255 plants in the EU, 14.8 million vehicles produced annually, 14 million employees - we transport everything from components to end products.

Liquids and bulk: Rail is ideal for sensitive transports and hazardous materials between the 40+ chemical parks in Germany and many other European production and processing sites.

Consumer and industrial goods, paper, building materials and more: we transport full loads by road, intermodal transport, rail and short sea shipping - with all the logistics services that go with it.

Combined transport: DB Cargo brings loading units from all over the world to Europe's cities - our multimodal network spans 150 terminals across the continent.
