Article: Dorothée Appel becomes new CIO/CDO at DB Cargo
With over 30 years of international IT experience, Dorothée Appel will take over as Head of "IT and Digitalisation" at DB Cargo from 1 November 2025.
Dorothée Appel (57) will take over as Head of "IT and Digitalisation, CIO/CDO" at DB Cargo on 1 November 2025. She succeeds Arlene Bühler, who is leaving the company on 31 October 2025 to pursue new professional challenges outside the DB Group.
Dorothée Appel
Dorothée Appel has around 30 years of international experience in IT. She began her career in Italy as a software developer and later worked in consulting and in management positions in the insurance and financial sector. Her career has included positions at AXA Assistance in Paris, Microsoft Germany and Switzerland as well as management positions at ING Bank and ABN Amro Bank in the Netherlands. Her particular focus there was on agile working and sustainability in IT. Since April 2023, she has been responsible for the IT of Deutsche Bahn AG's central Group functions as CIO Group Management.
