Tanja Fuchs has been responsible for Human Resources on the Management Board of DB Cargo as Member of the Management Board for Human Resources and Labor Director since May 2025. In this interview, she talks about responsibility, change and the power of cooperation.
Tanja Fuchs has been a new member of the Management Board of DB Cargo AG since May 1, 2025 and is responsible for Human Resources. In this interview, she talks about her motivation, the changes in the company and what is particularly important when dealing with employees - especially in turbulent times.
Ms Fuchs, what motivated you to take on the responsibility of Member of the Management Board for Human Resources at DB Cargo at this particular time?
I made a conscious decision to take on this role - with all its challenges, but also its many opportunities. DB Cargo plays a central role in European logistics and climate-friendly freight transport. However, I was particularly impressed by the people in the company: The expertise, commitment and passion that I encounter here every day motivate me greatly. I am convinced that together we can master the transformation. The first successes are already visible and encourage me to tackle the tasks ahead with confidence.
You have already been working as a manager at DB Cargo for two years. What has particularly influenced you during this time?
The close collaboration with my colleagues was particularly formative - characterized by openness, respect and a shared desire for change. I was able to take on responsibility from day one, thanks above all to the strong teamwork. The strategic realignment of the company demands a lot - but we are walking this path together. Transformation is not a sprint, but a marathon. Perseverance and team spirit are crucial now.
What is particularly important to you in dealing with employees during this phase - also with a view to the future?
Appreciation, transparency and strong cooperation - these are core values for me. At a time when many people are feeling insecure, it is particularly important to provide confidence and guidance. I hope that we will continue to boldly break new ground, actively shape change and support each other. In this way, we will secure the future of rail freight transport together - sustainably, reliably and strongly.
