DB Cargo France is growing in the French market - with an intermodal focus, strong leadership and a clear strategy for sustainable logistics.

"Facilitez-vous le fret ferroviaire - rail freight transport made easy!" With this promise, DB Cargo France is positioning itself as a strong alternative in the French market. The positive development of DB Cargo France is inextricably linked to Alexandre Gallo. He has led the company as Managing Director since 2020 - with a clear course, proximity to operations and a deep understanding of the market and customers. He joined the company as Production Director back in 2018. The logistics professional brings over two decades of experience in European rail logistics - from operational management to strategic orientation.

Under his leadership, DB Cargo France is consistently driving forward its realignment: with a focus on intermodal solutions, a customer-oriented sales structure and the aim of further expanding its market position.

Strongly positioned in a challenging market

French rail freight transport is traditionally dominated by the state railroads. DB Cargo France is increasingly establishing itself here as an efficient provider - with its own sales team, which specifically addresses the special features of the market, and with an operational network that flexibly covers national and international runs.

The operational set-up is complemented by the company's own workshop in Alizay and a certified training center for train drivers and operating personnel.

Focus on corridors: nationally and internationally networked

DB Cargo France focuses on a clear corridor strategy - with the aim of ensuring efficient and continuous connections:

  • East-West Corridor: connection to Germany and Benelux
  • North-South corridor: connection to Spain and Italy
  • Bulk corridor: transport structures for regional bulk freight transport, especially for the building materials industry

Overview of DB Cargo France's strategic corridors and locations

With its modern fleet, DB Cargo France also provides tractive output for innovative concepts such as the rolling highway (e.g. VIIA, Cargobeamer) and transports new ICE trains from the Spanish Talgo plant, among other things - in some cases also through the Eurotunnel in cooperation with DB Cargo UK.

Strategic realignment with a focus on intermodality

DB Cargo France is strategically realigning itself in order to offer viability for the future. The focus is on three central measures:

  1. Expansion of intermodal transportation at national and international level
  2. Assuming operational responsibility in combined transport - e.g. through container scheduling and awarding terminal services
  3. Establishment of a dedicated terminal in the greater Paris area to gain more control over the value chain and strengthen operational independence

Partner for sustainable logistics in Europe

With a focus on intermodality, a strong regional presence and a clear strategic orientation, DB Cargo France is positioning itself as a relevant player in European rail freight transport - ready to shape the future of logistics sustainably together with customers and partners.
