More service for customers

More service for customers

Schenker's "Full Load Solutions" business unit moves to DB Cargo.

The "Full Load Solutions" (FLS) business segment is being transferred from DB Schenker to DB Cargo. DB Cargo is thus expanding its position as a European rail logistics specialist, and DB Schenker is investing in the world's high-growth economies and markets.

"Another step in our strategy for growth"

Dr Sigrid Nikutta, Member of the Management Board for Freight Transport and CEO of DB Cargo AG says, "We're becoming a rail logistics provider – with rail at the core. Thanks to the strong technical expertise of our colleagues at FLS, we really can find bespoke logistics and service solutions for all our customers. This brings our customers real added value in their eco-friendly supply chains. At the same time, they can continue to work with the same contacts they have known for years. I'm excited about this next step of our 'Strong Cargo' growth strategy."

Since 2019, FLS has brought together large-volume full truckload transport in DB Schenker's European land network. The service includes safe and flexible door-to-door transport by land, rail or sea. Other services include unpacking and repacking, cross-docking, warehousing, container loading and control tower and visibility services. Taking on FLS activities will give DB Cargo access to customers from the consumer goods industry and other sectors as well as broad expertise in multimodal door-to-door solutions. Christian Drenthen, Member of the Management Board for Land Transport at DB Schenker, says "I'm very proud of the successful transformation we have carried out with FLS. Today, FLS is excellently poised for further growth in DB Cargo's European network. We look forward to further strengthening and expanding our land transport expertise, both in Europe and globally."

Strengthening DB Cargo's market position

The takeover also encompasses the business of Offenbach-based TRANSA Spedition GmbH, a specialist in combined transport (CT). This transfer within the DB Group is aimed at further strengthening the range of rail and intermodal transport services for DB Cargo and TRANSA customers. TRANSA holds a leading position in Germany and Europe in full-load solutions and in the development of multimodal transport chains. With the takeover of the FLS business and the multi-modal solutions units of DB Schenker under the new umbrella brand of DB Cargo Transa, DB Cargo is further expanding its position as a European rail logistics specialist. The shift of the FLS business in the DB Group, including the organisational and production units, means that customers can continue to benefit from the top-notch portfolio in the FLS business unit under the new name.

Europe-wide specialist for full-load solutions

From the design of multimodal supply chains to full-load solutions for rail and road, TRANSA has brought high-performance concepts for custom logistics solutions to its customers for upwards of 65 years. Through specialisation in industry solutions for sectors such as steel, paper, consumer goods, construction and waste management, FLS activities focus on containerised logistics and combined transport (CT), which lets them assist with every service in the supply chain.
