    How is a freight train put together, how do goods move from the road to the rail, and what happens behind the scenes at a classification yard? DB Cargo will answer these questions at Day of the Railway 2026. From September 18 to 20, 2026, DB Cargo will open its doors at various locations and invite visitors to experience rail freight transport in all its diversity.     Halle (Saale)

    Track Time in Halle on September 19

    For the fifth consecutive year, DB Cargo is opening its doors in Halle. Visitors can look forward to a varied day at DB Cargo’s marshaling yard and maintenance facility. Experience the world of rail up close and discover how modern freight trains are formed and maintained. An experience for the whole family. 

    Nuremberg

    See how trucks get onto the rails at the logistics center on September 18

    At the Nuremberg logistics center, DB Cargo Full Load Solutions will demonstrate how modern transport chains work today. Visitors will gain exciting insights into innovative transshipment processes and learn how freight is efficiently transferred from road to rail. From consumer goods to special shipments: here, modern logistics comes to life. 

    Big family festival at the classification yard on September 20

    Together with the Nuremberg German Federal Police, DB Regio, DB InfraGO, and DB Security, DB Cargo invites you to a big family festival. In addition to the Day of the Railway, the event marks the 75th anniversary of the Nuremberg German Federal Police. Visitors can look forward to a varied program for young and old alike.

    Europe’s largest classification yard opens its gates on September 19

    A look behind the scenes at one of Europe’s largest rail yards: Look forward to vehicle exhibitions, rides through the classification yard in heritage vehicles, guided tours of the maintenance facilities, and exciting technical demonstrations related to freight transport.
